“It is Jesus [who] you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is he who provokes you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is he who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is he who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle.”
Saint John Paul II
World Youth Day, August 2000

Small Groups

All St. Bartholomew parishioners are encouraged to participate in a small group experience whether it be within the family, a gathering of friends or other groups that are formed here in the community. Small group companionship allows the encounter with Jesus to be experienced "in the flesh" through relationships of authentic love and friendship.

Faith and Fiction Book Club

The Faith and Fiction Book Group hosts meetings between September and June to discuss books by noted Catholic authors or that broadly deal with religious and spiritual topics.   For more information, see the Faith and Fiction Book Club page.

Men's Group

The St. Bart’s Men's Group goal is mutual support and spiritual development based on shared insights gained from a diverse membership. We meet for about 90 minutes at 9:30am on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Members host meetings on a rotating basis and each host picks the topic to be discussed. The 8-15 member group has been meeting for 25 years and we always enjoy the fresh perspective brought by new members. The value of the group can be appreciated by the comments of members:
-“The input from our group is invaluable to me as I listen to other members describe how they deal with individual and family concerns and the problems of aging.”
-“It has provided me with a trusted sounding board as I face new and difficult life issues.”
-“Mutual support is a true blessing. As we listen to each other with respect we learn we are not alone as we face tough problems and decisions in our personal lives.”
-“I look forward to our Saturday get-togethers. They truly are spiritual retreats!”
-"It's a sharing/caring group.  I feel better after each meeting."

Prayer for small groups

Powerful, sovereign Queen, come to our aid. Speak for us to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Who can do it better than you, who conversed so intimately with him here on earth, and now so fully possess him in Heaven? Speak to your Son for us! Amen.

-St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153)
