A letter from Fr. Mark Knestout, Pastor:

As priests of Saint Bartholomew, we are profoundly aware of the hurt and anger the Catholic faithful of our parish and the community at large are feeling in light of the recent reports of the abuse of minors, the abuse of power and position, and the cover-up of these terrible acts.

These revelations have damaged the trust that you hold in us and most especially eroded trust in Church leaders and in the Church as a whole.

I invite you to join us here at Saint Bartholomew for an evening of prayer and discussion.

We will pray for all victims of abuse, express sorrow for the failures of our leadership, seek forgiveness for our sins, and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the ongoing healing of the People of God.

First, we will gather in the church to pray before the exposed Blessed Sacrament for all victims of abuse and abuse of power.  Immediately following our prayer time, we will hold an open and, I hope, candid discussion/listening session for those who would like to voice their comments, opinions, and thoughts.

This special prayer service and discussion/listening session will take place on Friday evening, September 14, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in our church.

Please consider joining us with your prayer intentions, comments, thoughts, and guidance.  It is my hope to then present your ideas to those who are in the positions to help change our course for the future, provide care for the victims, and make sure no one in the church suffers from these terrible acts and crimes again.

May God bless you this day and every day.
