According to The Knights of Columbus website, the group was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in 1882 to provide financial aid to members and their families. Over time, the organization has become the largest Catholic fraternity in the world with more than 13,000 councils and more than 1.7 million members.
Participants have the opportunity to give back to their family, their church, and their community. Local council #2797, located at 5417 West Cedar Lane, Bethesda, meets two nights a month; members can participate and volunteer in may different ways including those listed below:
