Faith and Fiction Book Group

Read some books over the next year that you otherwise would not have read. Expand your reading and literary horizons.

The Faith and Fiction Book Group meets six times during the academic year to discuss books written by noted Catholic authors or that broadly deal with spiritual or religious themes. Meetings are Sundays at 1:30 pm in the Parish Meeting Room. The informal discussions last for about 75 minutes. All are welcome. The only prerequisite is the ability to enjoy some good books.

The 2010-2011 selections are:

September 19, 2010
City of Silver by Anna Alfieri

October 24, 2010
American Rust by Phillip Meyer

December 5, 2010
Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant

January 30, 2011
Unfinished Desires by Gail Godwin

March 6, 2011
Big Machine by Victor LaValle

May 1, 2011
The Land of Spices by Kate O’Brien

Four of the six 2010-2011 selections have a nun as a lead character, and these books were set in colonial Peru, medieval Italy, Ireland, and western North Carolina. All selections except The Land of Spices were published in 2009 or 2010.
