“… what happens when a person is touched by the light of the resurrection, and thus comes into contact with Life itself, with Truth and Love? …Speech is no longer adequate. He has to sing.”

Parish Music

“Sing to the Lord a new song for he has done marvelous things.  Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.”   ~Psalm 98

The St. Bartholomew music ministry offers a variety of ways for parishioners to fully respond to the Lord’s sacrificial Love poured out for us during the Mass.

Do you play a musical instrument or like to sing? To discuss where you might be able to offer your gifts in our parish music ministry, contact Director of Music Carole Wysocki, 301-717-8850 or Director of Music for the Hispanic Ministry Carola Sarmiento, 301-275-8754.

The Choirs of  St. Bartholomew:

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir enhances the quality of worship with choral and instrumental music regularly at the Sunday 10 am. Mass from September through July.

The Choir also sings for the major holy days and performs concerts and special events throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 8 to 10 pm in the choir room of the school, weekly from mid-September to mid-June.

The music encompasses a variety of styles ranging from the traditional to the contemporary and everything in between! Currently, our choir numbers about 25. Teenagers through senior adults are welcome. There is no audition required to join the choir, simply a love of music and an interest to be involved in the musical life of the parish. Experienced singers welcome, too!

Pange Lingua

Sing, my tongue, the Savior's glory,
Of his Flesh the mystery sing;
Of the Blood, all price exceeding,
Shed by our immortal King,
Destined for the world's redemption,
From a noble womb to spring.

-St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274)
