Join in the great adventure of learning and experiencing our Catholic faith through Religious Education classes at St. Bartholomew.
Our program is open to children in 1st through 8th Grade who attend area public schools or private, non-Catholic school.
Classes are held from 8:15 AM – 10:30 AM (including the 8:30 AM Mass) on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month. Classes run from mid-September through May.
Parents: join the community and attend the 8:30 AM Mass! Let us know if there are strategies that help your child have a positive learning experience. If you have comments, let us know on the registration form or talk with your child’s teacher.
God has blessed us with a team of parishioner volunteers who teach the Archdiocese of Washington's religious education curriculum.
All grades attend Mass and use the Bible in class, integrating their knowledge with personal and communal prayer and worship.

St. Bart's CCD follows the Montgomery County Public School calendar. Whenever there's a need to cancel class due to inclement weather or an emergency, families will be notified via Flocknote.
Lesson builds on previous week’s learning and experiences.
When a child will be absent, it’s helpful and appreciated if the child's teacher is email ahead of time. Students in 3, 4, 5 and 6 Grade (not in preparation for a sacrament) can make up a missed class by bring in a parish bulletin from the Mass they attended between class weeks. Students in 1 and 7 Grade (Pre-Sacrament years) and 2 and 8 Grade (Sacrament years) please email your child’s teacher for missed content.
When students and teachers have time to arrive and start class together it build a sense of community, classroom routine, and the ability to move through material smoothly. This year, teachers have discretion to hold their class past dismissal, if tardiness in a grade starts take away from instruction time. If this is the case in your child’s class you'll be notified by Flocknote.
We strive to create and maintain classroom environments that are instructive, enjoyable, and safe for all CCD scholars and teachers. If your child has strategies that help with their learning, please let the teacher know ahead of time. Everyone has rough days. If an issue arises in class, please talk or email your child’s teacher or the director.
